1. KJ Smith and Skyh Black are married

KJ Smith and Skyh Black are now married. On Sunday, September 3, the actors jumped the broom in perfect harmony at The Malibu Dream Resort for what Smith dubbed “The Black Experience.” One hundred and fifty close family and friends, including Smith’s “Sistas,” co-stars Crystal Renee, Ebony Obsidian, and Novi Brown, along with the show’s creator and executive producer, Tyler Perry, witnessed the nuptials that took over a year to plan. According to reports, their wedding was a dream come true that paid homage to their ancestry and the location of their first date.

The love story dates back to January 2021 and includes them working on “Sistas” together. Smith and Black got engaged in December of that year and have been inseparable since. Although their guests wore variations of black, the lovebirds donned all-white ensembles designed by Black designers. The bride rocked a custom Alonuko gown by Oluwagbemisola Okunlola Designers, while the groom leaned into his fashionable side for a bespoke creation by Brandon Gray of Grayscale.

2. Tems bags ELLE Style, BMI R&B/Hip-Hop awards

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems won two awards on Wednesday. The Oscar-nominated diva bagged the Trailblazer Award at the ELLE Style Awards in London, United Kingdom, on September 6. Tems was on hand to receive her laurel, which was presented by BAFTA-winning actress Naomi Ackie and BBC Radio 1 presenter Julie Adenuga. In her acceptance speech, the “Essence” crooner said she has her upbringing in Lagos, Nigeria, and faith to thank for her career success so far.

On the other side of the Atlantic, Tems was named the Songwriter of the Year at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards held at the LIV Nightclub in Miami Beach on September 6. She was recognized for her songwriting credits on “Free Mind,” Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up,” and Future and Drake’s “Wait For U.”

3. South Africa: Cops confirm gun used to kill AKA has been found

Police have made a major breakthrough in the murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend, celebrity chef Tebello Tibz Motsoane. Speaking on Wednesday at an inter-ministerial briefing, KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said the gun used to kill Forbes had been found. “We have identified a couple of vehicles that were used. Some of the vehicles were used as getaway [vehicles]. Some were used as spotters. Some may have been used by people after the fact,” Mkhwanazi said.

“We had identified at least one firearm that has been used and positively identified to have shot and killed Mr Forbes on that evening,” Mkhwanazi added. He said police had their eyes on a “few individuals” and would consult with the National Prosecuting Authority about bringing them in for questioning soon.

4. Drake officially announces ‘For All The Dogs’ release date

After a summer’s worth of teasing, Drake finally has an official release date for his eighth studio album, “For All The Dogs.” On Wednesday, September 6, the Canadian star shared an episode of the now-defunct “Stormy Monday with Danny Marks” on Instagram, which featured his father, Dennis Graham, as a guest performer. As entertaining as the short video was, it was the post’s description that brought his fans instant euphoria. “FOR ALL THE DOGS SEPTEMBER 22,” Drizzy wrote, confirming when the long-awaited album will finally arrive.

This past August, Drake responded to the extended wait during the Seattle stop of his “It’s All A Blur Tour.” “I know everybody’s upset that I didn’t drop an album last night. I didn’t say it was dropping last night. So don’t be mad at me,” he told the audience.

5. Riyad Mahrez ties the knot with Taylor Ward for second time with yet another celebration planned

Taylor Ward and Riyad Mahrez exchanged vows in a formal ceremony in London on Monday, becoming husband and wife for the second time. The Manchester City star and model exchanged vows in front of their nearest and dearest at The Londoner Hotel in the city. Mahrez and Ward, who have a daughter together named Mila, were previously married in a Muslim ceremony in January 2022, and a third ceremony is reportedly scheduled for later this year, according to reports.

The winger and his ex-wife, Rita Johal, whom he was married to for six years, have two kids together. As per reports, Johal, who is 28 years old, previously said the couple’s separation was due to the footballer’s move to Manchester City and that the Algerian sometimes felt overwhelmed by the strain of competing for such a prestigious team. Mahrez moved from Leicester to Manchester City in 2018 for a £60 million transfer fee after being a key component of their Premier League championship victory in 2016.
